Night Riding with Music

Bicycle riding on the road with music is generally not recommended but on my night rides through Percy Warner I consider it safe since I come across very few vehicles if any on the rides. As you can see in the picture I have come up with a way to mount my iPod Shuffle on my helmet using a Mini-Maglight head strap woven through the vents. This works great and keeps all the cords out of the way and gives you easy access to the controls. The headphones are an inexpensive Sony sports model that work great since they wrap around your ear and don't come off, also they are pretty waterproof. The shuffle weights so little that you do not notice it at all. Also I have two small lights mounted on teh helmet to be able to see the bike computer and heart rate monitor. They also come in handy if you have a bike problem as they provide great work light for dealing with issues.

Bicycle Light Alternate Mounting Solution

With the new "Wing" type handle bars beng used today (I love them as they are so much more comfortable!) and other gear it is sometimes hard to find a spot to mount your light for night rides but I have found a solution that works for me. Using a small stub accessory from Profile Designs I mount the light down on the drops well out of the way and it works great.

Intro

Well, the wife and a few others have pinned me with the title "Bicycle MacGyver" so I have decided to accept fate and embrace it with the birth of "BiGyver" (All the other possible terms were taken).

This blog will be about bicycles and our life around them. I will be posting articles on bicycle rides, equipment, trips, fun, etc. Feel free to jump in with stuff of your own.

I also claim Husband / Father perogative and reserve the right to post pictures, stories, etc of my lovely bride Hope, and our wonderful daughter Abby, as my heart desires, whether it might involve biking or not.

Enjoy
